In this sophisticated world, one often finds oneself in a struggle with power, fame, money, attention and many other unnecessary entities of life. I seek to find a simple life, uncomplicated yet meaningful. A lot more important elements of life are waiting to be discovered. Live your life to the fullest.

Back From ICT!

Back From ICT!

Hi all, I am back after one week of in camp training. 5 days without computer and newspaper, and I am outdated with the rest of the world. Lots of catching up need to be done.

The ICT was quite fun I must say. The annual meeting up with old platoon mates is always nice. Just like the old days, we did rapalling, some did the live task while others become ropeman. Not forgetting the topo mission we were given. Less training details here, just wanna say we are really not as fit as before. We did enjoyed ourselves with the nights off and soccer. Overall, a good ICT.

Soen is back. Time to catch up with her and the bunch of gals.

And back to my internship on Monday. I must have missed out on a lot.

All right, I still need to write my script. Sianz...

Will be back with more news then.

A Huge Bomb

A Huge Bomb

I have just been thrown a big bomb. I applied for a scholarship from a clan (not the SMP program I told some of you) under the "advice" of my dad. I forgot how much it is. A one lump sum of maybe 1K? Anyway, the person in charge told me that they would like me to give a "thank you speech" on that night. The best thing is it has to be in mandarin. This is really GREAT.

First of all, I don't really like to give this kind of public speech, especially with so many people looking at you. Secondly, I am an engineer to be, asking me to write a speech is really not my forte. Lastly, it has to be done in mandarin which I can faintly recall the last time I actually wrote an essay in chinese.

Now, I have to go search for a chinese software to start typing. I also need to find out the people I need to thank, and the common terms used in this kind of speech. About 3 minutes long. Oh man, how am I going to crap this thingy out?

I won't say my chinese is that bad, just rusty. However, I would appreciate anyone who has this kind of relevant experience to come forward and give me a helping hand.

Taking a Break From ICT

Taking a Break From ICT

Well, I get to book out after 2 days of reservist for the weekend. Let me just blog a little bit since I don't really feel like sleeping yet.

ICT was quite fun. Get to see many old friends and the real training is not going to start until this coming monday. I think this in camp proves to be more constructive than the previous two. Learn a bit more this time round.

One of the trainers told us this in mandarin which I am going to translate it into English:

Complicated tasks, do it simply.
Simple tasks, do it repeatedly.
Repetitive tasks, do not mess them up.

Guess I am going to miss a lot for the next week. Friends do update your blogs so that I can read them to know what has happen.

Dengue Fever

Dengue Fever

This seems to be the hottest topic in Singapore lately. True enough, just read the newspaper today and you will find that the number of cases of dengue fever has just hit its all time record. And our dear friend shijun has been diagnosed with it and has been hospitalised since yesterday.

Went down to the hospital to see him today. Was shocked by the number of people who visited him. His whole science club's friends were there to see him. Very popular indeed. Anyway, I hope he can recover soon because I know it doesn't feel nice being sick.

So friends, please take care of yourself. Take the necessary precautions. It only takes you 10 minutes! (according to the advertisement). And please paste the sticker (dengue fever one with the mosquito on it) on areas you think are dangerous.

I will be going for my reservist tomorrow morning. Will be out this weekend though.

Going to take a break from my internship. The chemicals (photoresist, epoxy) are driving me crazy!!

Wii Are The Champions

Wii Are The Champions

Went to Ch's place to play Wii yesterday. I must say I am quite impressed by it. Really it can be very addictive. The sport games alone are good enough to keep you occupied for a long time. Definitely a good gadget to please small groups. I have decided to hold the next annual 4E4 CNY Dinner at his house. Anyone any objection? Anyway, I think it is a great way to impress gals as well. Well done buddy!

Went ktv at cine later on in the night. Met up with jc friends and sylvia's friends. Not too bad. Didn't know she can sing so well despite the fact that she was behaving hyperactive all through the night.

And I have cut my hair. So short now... well because I am going for reservist this thurs till next fri. But I will be out during the weekends, so at least not so bad.

Going to eat at Thai's Village later for an obvious reason.

Happy Fathers' Day.

The Other Side of Me

The Other Side of Me

As promised, the photos are out. Just going to show a few here. Actually, the title should be The Other Side of Us, simply because there are two models. All right, two guys trying to act cool.

Here goes...

This picture was taken at the Malayan Railway.
$500 plus guitar(according to zy), nike singlet. esprit jeans, adidas shoes.

The focus is suppose to be the guitar, that's why I am blurred. This is art. You understand or not?

Green apple (going to appear many times, zy fav prop), vintage camera, stupid tie and shirt.

Zy's fetish for the day: Green Apple.

I was made to climb up a cliff. I sat on the stone waiting for the photographer clement to compose the scenario.

The position was not quite right. I stood up. They complained that my shirt is not suitable for this shoot. I took off my top. Zy kao pei my shoes. Ok, off they go. Even my jeans they wanna me to fold up. K I did as told. Lastly, my belt looks off. All right, fine. End result?

Disaster struck after the above shoot. A train was approaching and being on the higher ground, I quickly warned them.

Fear was the only thing on their mind, because our belonging were near the track.
Scrambled, they ran. Things were thrown to the side for safety. Unfortunately, some bags and shirts were "tarnished" by the long kang along the sides of the track.

Dejected we felt.
Demoralised we became.
But....

A backpacker got to do what a backpacker got to do.

Defeated? Not quite. We battled on.
The commando spirit resides in each of us. We pressed on.

Art is about making sacrifices.
To take good pictures, you got to pay for it.

Back to the pictures...

We switched to a new location: Pahang Street at Kampong Glam.

This was taken at zy's birth place, a deserted house.

I am thinking. Thinking really hard. Maybe too hard.

A nice composition of the wall, creeps and that guy with his guitar.

Watch out for the lightings. Cool right?

Through the narrow gap lies what? Me lo.

Pahang Street is also the place where clement stepped onto shit. Yes literally SHIT. And with my slippers! Spend some time trying to get the SHIT off the slippers. Not going to let him on the car if the smell is still there.

We drove to another lane: Haji Lane.

Inside on of the shops. I must say that the shops over there are quite unique. Each of them has their own design. Fascinating.

Look at the overall picture ok, not us.

There are some more pictures which I have not upload.

Try here.

You think you know more about the other side of me now?

The Other Side of Me - Prelude

The Other Side of Me - Prelude

This weekend was quite busy. The most important event being Project The Other Side of Me.

So what is it about? It is about capturing feelings. Remembering your true self.

Before I go on, let me just give you a rough idea of what this is actually all about. My friends and I have come up with the idea of taking pictures around some exotic places in Singapore.

The theme is The Other Side of Me.

Let me introduce to you some important persons.

Zhiyang. Age 24. Guitar-apple-navigator-kao bei-model-man. Single and available.

Clement. Age 24. Commanding officer-camera-composer-step on shit-man. Attached and not available.

Last but not least. Me. Driver-umbrella-model-man. Single and available.

Sorry, no photo of me at the moment.

Anyway, the two main places we went to are the railway track linking Msia and SG (the part near bukit timah area), and kampong Glam (Haji lane and Pahang Street).

Clement takes some really good photos. We trusted him and volunteer our help as models for him. He needs props we give him props. He needs transport we get him a car.

The photos should be out soon. Stay tune. The next entry will most probably be about this project and of course.... the pictures.

Anticipate the other side of me.

Jump Concert Pictures

Jump Concert Pictures

Never take a lot of pictures during Mayday's concert last sat. In fact, me and yw did not bring a camera at all. Saw Tse Ling there and used her friend's camera to take 2 pictures.

Yw and me:

With Tse Ling:

Have not seen her for a long time. Quite surprising to know that she will be going for the concert.

Anyway, great concert. I must emphasise this again.

More Vietnam Pictures

More Vietnam Pictures

Got them from Clement after such a long time. Some of the Vietnam pictures taken mainly in Hanoi and Sapa.

A tribal woman selling some stuffs:

Zy and me in Sapa. Freaking cold there.

In the fields of Sapa. Note the change in weather. A little bit deeper into the town and the weather changes from cold to hot.

The only reason why I post this picture is because of the nice background.

David, Zy and me. Clement is the photographer.

Nice alley.

I think this is still Sapa.

The padi fields.

The children in Sapa.

Our favourite stall in Hanoi.

Just sharing some pictures which are nicer here. Hope you enjoy it.

Cheng Hao

Cheng Hao

This is ch and me, taken when we went fish and co the other time:

I am too bored now so I am going to write something about him. He is probably out enjoying himself with an-gi. Anyway, I hope he doesn't get a shock when he reads this.

For a start, let me just introduce him briefly. He lives just a few blocks away from me. We knew each other since secondary 1. Our secondary school is Yishun Town, the rumoured school which appears in the movie Just Follow Law according to Trixie. Ch has just started his blog which you can view via the link at the side.

So while I am an an-gineer, he deals with IT and computer stuffs. He loves an-gimes and I often get my supply of bleach, initial D etc. from him. He is a very friendly person. Although he looks like he lack of an-ner-gi, he does his work full of an-thu-gi-asm. He used to be very lazy, but lately he seems to have geared up his an-gine, going to gym and teaching tuition and stuffs. Keep up the good work bro. I will be an-gi-cipating more from you.

Don't feel too an-gi-tated also. If you don't like this post I will just keep it private for your sake.

You Make MaY DAY

You Make MaY DAY

Just came back from Mayday's JUMP concert. It was fabulous.

It started off with a short movie clip and then a series of fast songs to warm the audience up. They sang all the new songs and also throw in some classic older songs including Hokkien ones. They had a half time break to introduce themselves and say a few words. Second half saw a little bit more action when they involved the audiences by asking them to follow their actions of LOVE. The hit songs continued and they had all of us up on our feet. By the end of 3 hours, you definitely feel that it was worth the money.

Totally enjoyed the concert.
