In this sophisticated world, one often finds oneself in a struggle with power, fame, money, attention and many other unnecessary entities of life. I seek to find a simple life, uncomplicated yet meaningful. A lot more important elements of life are waiting to be discovered. Live your life to the fullest.

Life

Have you ever wonder

Why life can be so complicated yet simple?

Why relationship can be so painful yet sweet?

Why sunset can be so sad yet beautiful?

Why tears can be shed for sorrow and happiness?

I feel that

Life is complex only when you see it as being so, but simplicity is often hard to achieve.

Relationship may be hurtful at times, but the sweetness that comes with it is too tempting.

Sun sets signify the end of a day, but it rises the next day bringing warmth and hope once again.

Tears are like your emotions, let go of them when it is time to, and it is a bliss to be able to express yourself.

Army Half Marathon

Just completed the AHM this morning in 2Hrs 04Min. I won't say it is very fast but at least I manage to complete a pace of 6 minutes per km for the entire run. Would have been great if I can do it under 2Hrs. Half marathon is a bit different from marathon. Apart from the distance wise, mentally, it is easier to complete the half marathon. At least I never walk or cramp during the run. In fact, I feel good after the race, which is important to me to finish the run strongly without injuries.

Now, I have to repeat this twice at year end's SC marathon. Seriously, I think I need to start training up for it if I wanna complete it with a good timing and injuries free. Those who are running for the first time please do go train up. You will suffer less during the run I promise.

All right, I shall get back to sleep again. Yawnz....

When I Was A Kid

When I Was A Kid

When I was a kid, I liked raining days. Be in when I was living in the kampong or the current house, I loved rain. I liked to just sit down and stare out listening to the rain pelting down on the ground. It seems like music to me, sometimes the rain gets heavy and you hear a louder thud, when it is lighter the sound is crisp. And the occasional thunder and lightning simply complements the whole succession. I would look up to the sky and think. Now, what thoughts could a kid have at that point of time? Dreams, questions, imagination.

When I was a kid, I wanna to grow up faster. Children(that's me) seems to get beaten and scolded for every single little things they do, some of them they think they are right when in actual fact they are not. I wished I could be in control of my own destiny then. Freedom, power, money. Now, I rather be a kid. No worries, no responsibilities.

When I was a kid, my spelling sucks. Now it still sucks. However, thanks to the technology now, this problem can be eradicated easily. Back to when I was a kid, I hate spelling tests. Memory, memory, memory. And why is it that we need to get our parents' signatures for every single test? Can't we just choose the tests (decent score) we want to be signed (well I suppose if that's the case, then there won't be any in my case)? When my parents saw my test papers, erm... this brings me to....

When I was a kid, I hate to be caned. Anyway, who likes to be caned? Hmm.. have you ever harbour the thoughts of running away from home when these kind of things happen? I did. But I never materialise it. Why? Hungry, scared, cold, ghosts!!!

When I was a kid, I hated my parents whenever they beat or scolded me wrongfully. Mind you, at that time, whenever they caned or scolded me it would have been a big big wrong on their part as perceived by me. So basically, whenever I get beaten I sort of have this anger in me. And sometimes, some of these feelings get a little into my head and I started hating them. Come on, who don't hate their parents when they are young? The more important thing here is that you have to realise they loved you. You will eventually, just a matter of how fast.

When I was a kid....

Family Photos 1

Family Photos 1

My family went over to JB to take our family photos yesterday. Took it in a shop named Printemps, top level of City Square. The service is quite good I have to say.

Anyway, I will post some of the photos up when I get them in about 2 weeks time or longer. I can't believe how good I looked in a suit. Makes me feel so wanna to work in those high class business buildings. Lol. Maybe a jumpsuit is more suitable for me after all.

Nothing much to update anyway. I am starting to play soccer every Sunday mornings now with my CDO friends. And with Sat afternoon dedicated to tuition, this means that gym sessions have to be pushed to weekdays. I hope to clock at least one gym and two runs per week excluding those soccer sessions or swimming which I throw in once in a while.

I went for a time trial using my new GT2120 the other day. Ran 10km for its maiden run. Took me 52 min and 47 sec. I wanna run under 50 min but could not maintain the 5 min per km pace for the last 4 km. In the end, I overshoot by a bit. However, the shoes are fantastic. Really comfortable and I can feel less drag in my feet. Maybe it is psychological. It serves its purpose nonetheless.

The One Minute Millionaire

The One Minute Millionaire

I have been reading this book by Mark Victor Hansen (chicken soup series) and Robert Allen (multiple sources of income).

What interests me about this book is that the even pages are about a story, how a widowed mother raise a million dollars in 90 days in order to save her two children. The odd pages are then the real tips and advices for one to become an enlightened millionaire.

Now, the book is actually quite thick but because one would normally read the story first which only makes up half the book. It becomes more readable and the interesting plot from the story leads you on to complete the book. And then you would want to read the odd pages to know how the theories and concepts mention in the story are all about. An interesting idea to combine story and financial theories into a book.

Should be finishing this book soon.

Enough of the book, let's talk about something else. Just came back from dinner with some of my ex hall friends. Ex because I am not staying there anymore and most of them have graduated. It is always good to see old friends again, especially when it is not possible to meet them so often. Most of them are still looking for jobs, god bless them.

Anyway, I am going in JB to take our family photo tomorrow. Borrowed Christine's robe (though it is a little short, thanks anyway.. will keep it clean I promise). Haha, so I get to wear the graduation robe before I actually graduate. Hopefully I can get some soft copies of the shots taken and post them here.

I just highlighted my hair today. Not very obvious but will do. I have been contemplating this for a long time. I always think that if you are ---- looking you don't need any colouring to your hair to enhance your looks. Since I am not so ---- looking, maybe a little bit will be of use. Anyway, I think overall still ---- looking, so just do it for fun lo.

So don't be surprise the next time you see me!

First Day Of School

First Day Of School

Let me just say a few things here after the first day in school today.

Firstly, there has been a change in the library system. You need your matric card in order to enter the library. And, RBR books are now self service. Just feel free to go in and take your own books.

Secondly, all the computers in the Com Centre has been changed to Lenovo A60. It is brand new! Cool look. No wonder so many people are hogging up the seats in there.

Thirdly, the arts canteen is open! Spacious and neat I would say. Have not tried the food there but it seems like the old stalls are back. 3 levels in all. And Burger King is there too. I mean the fast food restaurant. Will go there and have lunch soon...

Lastly, lots of Dragon ladies(I assume) are head turners. Lol.

Updates

Updates

It has been a few days since I last blogged. Shall just include some updates here.

Bought my Asics shoes GT2120 for $144. This means that running is going to be a serious exercise for me from now on. Will be running the AHM on the 26 AUG as an uninvited guest. I don't even know if this is allowed, but heck care la, just go run. Ultimate aim is the SC marathon on 2 DEC. My fourth marathon. Hopefully with more regular training this year, I can clock a better timing. target will be below 5 hours.

Tomorrow is the start of my final year in NUS. Taking 3 modules plus FYP. My timetable is a 3 day week but when FYP starts to get busy, I think I will be spending most of my time in the lab. Anyway, my free days are Tuesday and Friday.

Just had an JC class outing. But I can't seem to post the pictures up. Maybe another time ba.

All right, time to start mugging yet again. Jia you!

NDP 07

NDP 07

Hi all, it is me again. I just came back from NDP 07 at the Marina Bay. Staying up till late to write this entry and upload most of the photos I took with my phone. Please do not complain if the quality is not that good.

And I would recommend you to on your speaker at this stage because I have uploaded the new song written for this year NDP. So sit back and enjoy the music and pics.

First and foremost, let us look at this year's goodies bag:

Lots of drinks I must say. 2 packets of drinks (Green tea and H2O) and 2 bottles of mineral water. Some small packets of snacks and 2 bar of Halls. And not forgetting the usual coupons and books.

There are some interesting gadgets in the bag as well. Like the animal theme caps which actually blinks(the eyes) when a button is pressed. The batteries operated fan is also another cool item by Akira. 5 leds on one of the two blades and when you on them, it generates some words due to the fast rotation of the blades.

Enough of the items, let see the crowd at marina bay:

Before the stage goes live, there are actually big balloons near it:

Just a pic of the nice fountain in front of the stage. Anyone noticed that while watching from home?

The parade contingents all formed up:

Singing the national anthem(took this secretly):

Yea, proud to be a Commando. Best Combat Unit once again. Well done! For Honour And Glory.

Again, the commandos are doing what they are best at: show off. This time round it is inverted rapalling down the bridge. Can you see them all lined up?

Next is a first time special, showcasing some of the unique units and vehicles of SAF.

A Chinook near the river surface:

Flying off.. bye:

Not sure of the name:

Some tank I suppose:

Apache on the move (wicked!):

It even did a salute to the audience at the end of the show but I did not capture it:

Suppose to be jelly fishes, those lights:

All right, the more boring stuffs then came along. Those sea creatures start creeping onto the stage and do their stunts:

The stage at night:

Those UFOs are actually remote kites. Quite a sight when there are so many of them flying all over the sky:

Next few shots will be on the firework:

Not sure if some of you know this, my phone camera can actually capture 4 consecutive shots with one press of the button.

Finally the end...

Too tired to write more.

I shall let the pictures do the talking.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

Happy Birthday Singapore!

It is 9 Aug finally. Happy Birthday Singapore!

I am not going to talk about how good Singapore is or how much love I have for the country. Rather, I am going to talk about the things I would like to have in the near future.

First on the list will be a pair of asics shoes for the upcoming AHM and SC marathon. I have not decided on the exact model yet. Most likely will be GT or Kayano. Those who are interested to see more models and prices can click here.

I am also thinking of getting Creative Zen Stone Plus. Click here. This is also to keep me company for the long runs ahead. I will need to get the armband if I decide to buy this. Initially, I thought of just buying an armband for my K750i, but I am not too sure if there is any good ones in the market. Anyway, this Stone Plus is secondary. I will see how it goes. Maybe if there is any discount or promotion then I will consider buying it.

I am also quite interested in getting a new pair of walking shoes, after my Adidas died. This website called the shoes station provides some cheaper prices for the shoes they offered. Click here. If I have no money, I will just wear the new running shoes lo.

And to make things worse, after going to JB with td, I have a craving for Levis' jeans now. It is slightly cheaper over there. I only have one pair of Levis now, after I outworn the other pair which is my first Levis.

Actually money is not really so much of a concern. It is whether you need the items and if you are willing to splurge on them. If I want. I can get them all. But is it worth it? That's the issue here.

Get something you need, not something you want.

Going to see the NDP later. Hopefully it will be nice. Good night!

How Do I Break The News To You?

How Do I Break The News To You?

As the title suggests, I am not sure how to tell you guys this news. This is getting really annoying. I want to share with you some of the things that have been residing in my innermost, but as you would have already know by now that I don't really talk about such things in my blog.

Yet, I can't help but blog about it because I really want someone to know about it, instead of hiding it within me and only me, myself and weixin knows about it.

So, you are in luck if you are reading this.

This is going to be hard for me to break the news here. For the gals, you might be heart broken when you finish reading this post. For the guys, don't have to feel too happy for me all right. I know myself. This kind of thing has happened before and I know it is just a matter of time before it returns.

Have you ever wonder about this, sometimes when you search around for something, it never appears. And more often than not, the thing will appears at the least likely possible timing.

This is what happened to me.

It has been quite a while since I experience this. I never thought I will encounter this situation at this kind of timing. School term is starting soon, and it will be hard for me to cope.

I do not have any photos to show, but if I am happy, perhaps I will post a few up.

Yes, if I am happy, I will post the pictures of my newly grown pimple. Gals, don't be too sad. I will take good care of my skin I promise. Guys, don't be envy of me. This is a symbol of youthfulness.

Oh man, why must it appear at this moment. Argh...

Anyone any cream to recommend?

Something Constructive

Something Constructive

It seems like I have been writing crap for the past few entries. Come to think of it, I have not written anything constructive for quite a while. Well, it just means that nothing particularly interesting has happen.

Tomorrow is the last day of my internship at DSI. Made some new friends there. I would say that is the onlybest thing I have gained during my internship. With that, it means an end to the holiday and a new start for the coming semester. I am actually looking forward to this last year of mine in NUS. Not many modules to take, which means I can concentrate on doing my FYP. And the fact that I got the SMP program really helps a lot in calming my nerves down on finding a job after I have graduate. At least I don't have to worry about that now.

Maybe you have had enough of my babbling on my school and work. And since this is my blog, I should really spend more time talking about myself.

Sometimes my friends say I am vain, narcissist whatever you call it. I really have to defend myself and refute on this wrongly formed idea which I will not hesitate to call it accusation. Well, refute means "Overthrow by argument, evidence, or proof". So, for the rest of this entry, I will attempt to give examples and hopefully present some evidence or pictures to overthrow the statement "Weixin is vain and is definitely a narcissist by nature" and henceforth, prove my innocent and clear my name and reinstate my reputation.

Firstly, I don't have a lot of facial products. I have a bottle of cleaner, scrubber and moisturiser. That's it. And I don't even use them everyday. I mean together. I think my complexion is all right. It is not my fault for it to be this way. It used to be a lot worse when I was in my lower secondary. Therefore, you can understand even though that's the case, I never really bother much about taking care of my "face".

Next, I only take less than 3 minutes to do up my hair. Some people asked me how much time I need to style my hair. Practice makes perfect. When you have done zillion times, it will not take long. And I did that to make myself presentable, so as not to scare off people along the street. It is really not my intention to sweep gals off their feet (well, if I did that it is not my fault. I am innocent!) and charm them. My purpose is really to stop people from puking when they see me. It is like gals putting on make up because they know they look horrendous without them. Haiz, who ask me to look so terrible without styling, that's why I spend time doing up my hair. And even so, most of the time when I go out to somewhere nearby, I don't style my hair. I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

And I know people will question me about going to the gym and stuffs. Hello, do you have any problem with me doing some exercise? I sweat in there ok. It is the same thing as playing games or doing some sports. So please don't say I just want to look good and is VAIN! I am building up confidence in there. That's a better way to put it. Anyway, sometimes you see gays in gyms too. LOL.

Friends also say I took too many pictures of myself with my phone. Eh, my phone or your phone? If I am going to put wallpaper for my phone, it will definitely be myself la, since I don't have a girlfriend now. Put yours meh? The point I am trying to make here is that taking lots of pictures and being narcissist has no direct co-relation. The only thing it shows is that I have a good phone. And my phone is really good. K750i rocks.

My last argument for the day will be exhibit A. I urge all of you to take a good look at the evidence I have presented.

Exhibit A

In what way can this picture prove my innocence? Exhibit A oozes out traits of humility, selflessness and great compassion. Only a humble person will selflessly post his own picture which is most likely going to flush his own image down the toilet, if there is any image to speak of in the first place. And it takes great compassion to forgive the person who took this unfortunate shot.

Ladies and gentlemen, by now, it should occur to you without any slightest doubt, that I have been wrongly accused. It is therefore, of utmost importance, that you should unanimously pass the verdict that I be vindicated with effect from today.

With this, I rest my case. Thank you.
